She thought changing careers meant leaving six years of experience behind. It turned out those six years were exactly what prepared her for the next one.

She Thought She Was Starting Over

For nearly six years, Megan Brooks helped people transform their lives through fitness.

She coached. She educated. She motivated. More than anything, she built relationships. Clients trusted her with goals that often took months of consistency and commitment to achieve.

When she began thinking about her own future, she assumed changing careers meant leaving all of that behind.

It almost stopped her from making the move.

Medical aesthetics wasn’t part of her original plan. But the more she learned about the profession, the more she realized it wasn’t as different from fitness as she had first imagined.

A Familiar Purpose

On the surface, the two careers couldn’t look more different.

One takes place in a gym. The other in a treatment room.

But underneath, Megan found the same purpose.

People weren’t just looking for a treatment. They were looking for someone they could trust. Someone who would listen before giving advice, understand their goals, and help them achieve results that felt realistic and personal.

That part of the job already felt familiar.

Learning What Was New

Training wasn’t about proving she could work with people.

Years in fitness had already taught her that.

It was about learning the science behind skin health, facial anatomy, consultations, treatment planning, and the technical skills that medical aesthetics demands.

Along the way, something unexpected happened.

She stopped thinking of herself as someone starting over.

“One of the biggest things I learned was that I wasn’t starting over—I was building on everything I had already experienced. My instructors helped me develop the technical skills while encouraging me to trust the strengths I already had.”

The Skills That Never Left

Today, Megan works as a Medical Aesthetician at Pure Skin Medical Spa.

The equipment has changed.

The conversations haven’t.

Clients still arrive with questions. They still want honest guidance. They still want someone who takes the time to understand what matters to them before recommending a path forward.

The technical skills came through education.

The ability to build trust came with her.

Looking Back

When people ask Megan about changing careers, she doesn’t tell them to focus on what they’re leaving behind.

She encourages them to think about everything they’re bringing with them instead.

“Don’t be afraid of changing careers. The experience you’ve gained in previous roles is more valuable than you think. Stay open to learning, ask questions, and trust that your existing skills can become your biggest strength.”

Looking back, Megan no longer sees fitness and medical aesthetics as two separate careers.

She sees one profession teaching her how to work with people and another giving her a new way to do it.
